SUMMARY:Global Connections: Dealing With Difference - BIRMINGHAM
DESCRIPTION:Short-Term Mission Forum (A 24-hour event) \nDealing with Difference: \nMental health\, sexuality\, gender identity and disability are realities in a changing world which means we need to think differently about who will potentially serve in our short-term programmes. In the past\, many people have felt excluded from a short-term mission experience but\, in today’s inclusive world\, how can we organise and advertise our programmes so that they are accessible to as many people as possible without compromising our own values or making our trips impractical due to the need to provide higher levels of care and support? \nSpeakers with experience in these areas will help us navigate the complexity of these issues and show us how we can make provision for those with additional needs so that we can find the right balance. We will also include some practical sessions on key areas relating to best practice. \nPrice for Global Connections’ members is £105. Non-members price is £135 but places cannot be guaranteed. Accommodation will be in single rooms unless otherwise requested. \nLocation: Wallis House (previously know as International Mission Centre)\, 24 Weoley Park Road\, Selly Oak\, Birmingham\, B29 6QX \nDate: 15th October 2019 (2pm) to 16th October 2019 (2pm). \nFor more details and to book\, visit: https://www.globalconnections.org.uk/events/short-term-mission-forum-a-24-hour-event

SUMMARY:New Wine 2020 National Accessibility Conference - PRESTON
DESCRIPTION:Additional needs are wide ranging and include anything that prevents someone from participating in an activity\, such as physical disability\, mental health needs\, illness or undiagnosed needs. We want to make sure our church communities are places which recognise and welcome the value of what everyone brings to God’s kingdom; helping every individual to contribute. Part of creating an accessible church can also involve working alongside individuals such as those who are ex-offenders\, or have abused substances and may be rough sleeping. Some of the seminars within the conference will enable us to explore this \nThis one day conference will empower church leaders\, volunteers and communities to make church more accessible and inclusive for individuals with additional needs. The day will include both teaching and practical application as well as ideas for how to make your local church accessible for all children\, youth and adults. Please note there will be BSL interpretation on the day.
